Patsy Ruth Copeland January 9, 1929 - May 4, 2010 The angels came to take Patsy Ruth Jackson Copeland to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Bosqueville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, May 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Patsy was born January 9, 1929 in Ocee, Texas to Earnest and Lorna Jackson. Patsy attended schools in Crawford, McGregor and graduated from Waco High. In 1945 she met John A. Copeland and they married on October 20, 1945. During their marriage they lived in New Orleans, Waco, Austin and Georgetown. Patsy always made a beautiful home. She worked for Texas Farm Bureau, Texas Education Agency and the U.S. Air Force. She retired as Manpower/Management Analysis Officer on the staff of the Commander of Twelfth Air Force on April 3, 1986 to care for her beloved John, who died January 16, 1993. She was an active member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church until recent years and an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 40 years. Patsy was known for her loving nature and hospitality. She was well loved and will be missed by all lucky enough to have known her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Copeland; her mother, Lorna Ewing Jackson Sockwell; step-father, Jim Sockwell; and father, Ernest A. Jackson. She is survived by her son, James Randall Copeland and wife, Margo of Houston; and daughter, Cathy Jean Papke and husband, Howard and beloved granddaughter, Luci Jean of Austin; step-grandsons, Andrew and David Papke; brothers, Weldon E. Jackson and wife, Gene of Waco; and Joe Jackson and wife, Ina of McGregor; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and one uncle and her dear friends at Engelwood Estates in Austin. Pallbearers are Steve Sanders, Joe Reese, Bill Graves, Tony Fraley, Brackston Scott and Clay Brown.
