Pattie Rose Trippet July 23, 1922 June 17, 2009 Pattie Rose Trippet, a seventh-generation Wacoan, died on June 17, 2009, at home. Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at First Presbyterian Church. She was born Pattie Rose Early to William White Early and Serena Gould Early on July 23, 1922, and had two older brothers, Allen and Bobby. She attended Waco schools, graduating from Waco High School in 1938. After 2 years at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, she graduated from the University of Texas in 1942 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. A firm believer in service to her community, Pattie Rose was a member of the Woman's Club, the Thursday Luncheon Club, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, holding a position on the state board of directors, and the Waco Junior League, where she served as Treasurer and President. She served on the boards of Waco Camp Fire Girls, Oakwood Cemetery, Y .M.C.A., the Historic Waco Foundation and the United Fund, where she headed the Women's division for one year. She was a member of the Waco Library Commission when the new library was built and served on the Waco Charter Commission when the present charter was written. She held several positions in the Waco Cotton Palace and was its general chairman in its fourth year. Pattie Rose was a Realtor for 25 years, 20 of which she was associated with Jim Stewart Realtors. With her skills and personality, she was one of Jim Stewart's most productive salespeople. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder. Her long and happy marriage to her best friend, Harry Trippet, began on July 8, 1950. Together they explored Europe and the US, threw many parties, mixed many cocktails and enjoyed their wide circle of friends. One of Pattie Rose's favorite ways to socialize was game-playing, and all who knew her knew her formidable skill in bridge, mah-jongg, scrabble, gin rummy or any other game she put her mind to. Her zest for life and love of people impressed all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Serena Early of Missoula, Montana; and Fay Ratta and husband, Ralph, of Waco; her granddaughters, Betsy and Alice Swann, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the wonderful nurses and staff at Heart and Home and Bluebonnet Hospice for making her last years so comfortable. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice or to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com.
