Paul J. Ayers of Waco passed away peacefully during the early morning of Tuesday, August 16, 2016. A memorial will be held for him and his wife, Mamie Lou Ayers, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20. Paul attended East Texas State University, earning a B.B.A and M.S. of Business administration in 1949. His professional career included serving as the former head of business administration at Frank Phillip's College in Borger, Texas. He was also the regional manager of South-Western Publishing Co. After his retirement from publishing, Paul spent time teaching at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Living in Fair Oaks Ranch until he retired in the early 90’s, he moved to Waco to live out the rest of his days with his wife until her passing in September of 2013. He dedicated most of his free time to genealogy. He was a lover of music, bluegrass in particular. He was also a supporter of college radio and enjoyed listening to programming from colleges all over the country. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lou Ayers; his mother, Vera Grace Ayers, and father, Joe Dolphus Ayers. He is survived by his son, Joe E. Ayers and wife, Diane; his grandson, Aaron Ayers and Wife, Nicci, his granddaughter, Cuyler Ayers and her fiancé, David Gonzales, his granddaughter, Stephanie Pecina, and his great grandchildren, Eliza, Marcileen and Arson.
