Paul Ervin Thieman, 84, passed away on February 6, 2025, at his home in Woodway, Texas, surrounded by family.
The family will hold a celebration of life at their home on February 22, 2025.
Paul was born in 1940 in Ogallala, Nebraska. He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1958 and attended the University of Nebraska, Kearney, for two years with the intention of becoming a high school teacher and coach. He married Sharlene Thieman, the love of his life, on February 2, 1963. Paul had a diverse career that spanned 40 years across the states of Colorado and California. He started in automotive repair, then transitioned to becoming a lineman for Viacom, eventually moving up to an Operations Manager role. Paul and Sharlene purchased and operated a KOA Campground for 3 1/2 years in the late 1970s. He also built custom homes and drove a logging truck in Northern California. In the late 80s and early 90s, he worked for an elite hunting club where he served as a guide for many Hollywood western stars from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Paul later worked in the ready-mix industry, operating many different types of trucks. He retired in 2001 as a loyal member of the Teamsters.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Edmond Thieman; his mother, Luella Thieman; his older brother, Roger Thieman; and his younger sister, Janice Koons.
Survivors include his wife, Sharlene Thieman; daughters, Sheryl Jantz and husband Jon Jantz, and Malinda Feola; his youngest brother, Marland “Marty” Thieman and wife Mary; four grandchildren, Lindsey Feola and fiancé Nick Lopez, Chelsey Santiago and husband Hector Santiago, Austin Jantz and wife Sophia Jantz, and Jason Jantz; great-grandchildren, Theo Jantz and Skylar Lopez; and numerous extended family and friends.
Paul’s interests were as diverse as his career. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, camping, boating, riding his motorcycle (especially when he went to Sturgis), and shooting. He had a love/hate relationship with the knotty oak trees at the house. He was known to be tough as nails but was just as loyal to those he loved. There wasn’t a project Paul wouldn’t tackle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
The family invites you to leave a message or memory in Paul’s "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WHBfamily.com.
