Pauline Carson December 5, 1925 June 9, 2013 Pauline Speed Carson, 87, of Waco died peacefully the morning of June 9, 2013, at the Regent Care Center of Waco. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, at the Waco Memorial Park with the Reverend Frank Wallace officiating. "Polly" was born on December 5, 1925, in Lampasas, Texas, to Robert Allen & Pearl Speed. On July 28, 1951, she married Willard Carson at the First Baptist Church of Lampasas. Pauline taught school in Lampasas and Waco schools, including Bell's Hill and Hillcrest Elementary. She taught school early, before graduating from Mary Hardin Baylor, with an emergency certificate so she could help out with the shortage of teachers during World War II. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother & teacher who helped run the farm on Carson Lane & Steinbeck Bend with her husband, Willard. They gave meat, vegetables and fruits away to family, friends, neighbors, strangers & the Salvation Army. She loved church work. At North Waco Baptist she was a Junior High Sunday School teacher. At Columbus Avenue Baptist she enjoyed being in Dr. Cresson's class and working with the Internationals, greeting and helping with people from all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Allen & Pearl Speed; her husband, Willard Carson; her brother, Robert Allen Speed, Jr.; and her sister, Laura Pearl Spinder. She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Thompson and husband, Howard, and Martha Howk and husband, Alan, all of Waco; grandchildren, Ryan Thompson of Waco and Holly Thompson of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Family would like to thank the caregivers of Stoney Brook of Hewitt and Regent Care Center of Woodway. A special thank you to all at the Bluebonnet Hospice of Waco.
