Pearl Christian August 28, 1918 - August 7, 2008 Pearl Christian, 89, of Waco died Thursday, August 7, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Jimmie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Pearl was born August 28, 1918 in Axtell, Texas. She married Cecil Christian October 17, 1936. He preceded her in death June 15, 1985. She attended and graduated from Birome High School. She was employed at Sears as Personnel Assistant & Training Supervisor, R.E. Cox Company, Keep Waco Beautiful and the Waco Tribune Herald. Pearl was a member of First Presbyterian Church and active in her church. She served on town hall panels for Free Enterprise System, Advisory Board of Professional Development at Baylor University, Loaned Executive for United Way, Waco Symphony Council, National Association of Parliamentarians, International Training in Communication and numerous other organizations. Pearl had such a love of the environment and spent many hours in her garden appreciating the beauty of God's gifts to her. She was loved and respected by so many of her friends and dearly loved by her family. We will miss her, but know that she is now in a glorious place of peace and tranquility. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Jimmy Dee Christian and great grandson, David Mark Moore. Survivors include daughter, Linda Ferguson-Mulberry and husband, Carl; daughter-in-law, Jerre Christian; grandchildren, Steve Ferguson, Dee Ann Boatright and husband, Mark, Donna Shine and Denise Martinez; great grandchildren, Callie Ann Ferguson, Amber Christian and Ricky Boatright. Pallbearers are Steve Ferguson, Carl Mulberry, John Ferguson, Mike Christian, Mickey Magee and Bill Wilkins. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her personal caregivers at St. Catherine Center 3rd Floor and Providence Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, First Presbyterian Church or Keep Waco Beautiful.
