Peggy June Anderson

September 23, 1947 — July 18, 2024

Peggy June Wey Anderson, 76, of Waco, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Peggy was born on September 23, 1947, in Quanah, Texas, to Harold Carl Wey and June Arline Wey. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 305 North 30th Street, Waco, Texas, 76710, with Reverend Dr. Andrew Armond officiating. Burial will be held at 11:15am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, October 11, 2024. Peggy expressed a hope for a joyful celebration of her life, with attendees wearing bright, joyful colors.

Upon graduation from Quanah High School in 1965, Peggy attended Texas Tech University to become a teacher. After graduating with her teaching degree in 1969, she moved to San Antonio, Texas. She taught for Northside Independent School District for 30 years, first as a reading specialist and later in gifted education. While working for Northside Peggy obtained her Master’s degree in education in 1983 from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

It was while teaching that she met the love of her life, Charlie Anderson, and his three beautiful children, Leah, Elizabeth, and Charlie. Peggy and Charlie were married on September 1, 1979. They had two wonderful children, Beverly June and Mary Katherine (Katie).

Peggy enjoyed reading, had a witty sense of humor, and loved spending time with family and friends. She impacted more lives than she could have imagined, and this was shown in part by the way students would recognize her in the community years later and thank her.

Peggy grew up with a family who loved and served the Lord. It was this faith that helped her live a truly joyful life. She was able to pass this strong faith and hope down to her family. Her hope was for us to keep the faith, to find joy, and to live life with happiness. She would always remind her loved ones that time is precious, they shouldn’t worry, and that God works everything out in His perfect timing.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Charlie, and her parents.

She leaves behind her children, Beverly Taube and husband Joe, and Katie Anderson; step-children Leah Flores, Elizabeth Oehler and husband Brian, and Charlie Anderson and wife Karin; grandchildren, Caroline and Abigail Taube, Kayleigh Meek and husband Jason, Oliver Flores and wife Briana, Evelyn Flores, Zachary, Nathan, and Conner Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Jack Meek and Charlotte Flores; sister, Susan Mary Hill and husband Rollin, sister, Helenarline Dowlen, and brother, Harold Wey and wife Sonja; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. She will truly be missed by all.
