Our beloved mother, Peggy Ruth Martin, 88 years old, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Stonemere Rehabilitation Center in Frisco, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Peggy was born on January 5, 1933, to Grace and Willie Brink of Waco, Texas. She lived in Waco most of her life until she could not live by herself and moved to Prosper, Texas, with her daughter Tammy. Peggy met her future husband, George Jefferson Martin, at Cupps Drive-In, where Peggy worked as a carhop after George came home from World War II. They began dating and later married on September 10, 1949. George, the love of her life, was a devoted, loving husband to Peggy for 51 years before losing his cancer battle. Peggy took care of him at home the entire time of his illness. Peggy worked several jobs throughout her life, including her career as a Secretary at The Veterans Affairs Commission and Precision National, where she retired. After raising her children, Peggy finally decided to follow her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She completed her GED with tutoring help from her daughter, Dana. Peggy then continued her education at McLennan County College (MCC), where Peggy received her MCC Associate Degree of Nursing in 1989. She worked as a Registered Nurse for another ten years before retiring. Peggy enjoyed many arts such as dancing, singing, and just listening to music, especially Country music. As a young lady, she was a singer in her Uncle Doyle's band with one of her best friends. Peggy would always sing around the house so beautifully when she was doing housework or cooking for her family. Peggy loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than they could ever know. She was a member at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses while in Waco, Texas. Peggy Ruth Martin was preceded in death by her husband, George Jefferson Martin; her mother, Grace Brink; father, Willie Brink; brothers and sisters, Alton Brink, Elvin Brink, Vernie Sharp, Lena Eskew, and Judy Ariail.
