Peggy Ruth Stewart Kelly

Peggy Stewart Kelly July 1, 1925 – February 12, 2006 Peggy Ruth Stewart Kelly, 80, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, February 16, at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4-6 pm Wednesday, February 15 at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Garden Room. Peggy was born July 1, 1925 in Waco to Dr. William Trammell and Martha Rogers Stewart. After graduating from Waco High School in 1942, she attended Parsons School of Art and Design in New York City. She later returned to Texas and worked in Dallas as a commercial and graphic artist. She eventually settled back in Waco where she became a partner in the Osmet Menu Company, designing restaurant menus nationwide. After 1947, Peggy started her own company, Ad Art Studio, specializing in graphic and commercial art work. True to her independent nature and her adventurous spirit, she was a pilot and flew with the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. Throughout her life, Peggy was involved in many civic and church activities. Specifically, she served on the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Altar Guild, volunteered for the Waco Humane Society and supported the Waco Art Center. Her friends knew her well for her devotion to art, music and animals. Peggy and Harold R. Kelly were married April 10, 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Stewart Carver and nephew Charles Carver, IV. Peggy is survived by her two sons, Stewart R. Kelly and wife, Tracy and Trammell R. Kelly and wife, Mollie, all of Waco; grandchildren, Ryan Kelly, Ragan Kelly, Jackson Kelly, Paige Kelly, McKenzie Kelly and Abby Parmer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church or to the charity or organization of your choice.
