JAMES, PETE COLEMAN Pete Coleman James, age 94, of Dallas died Monday, March 26, 2001 in a Mesquite hospital. Services will be 11:30 AM Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave. with Rev. Olin Knudsen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at the funeral home. Mr. James was born May 20, 1906 in Thorndale, TX. He served active and reserve duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1925 until 1933 and also during WWII from 1943-1944. He was in construction work in Dallas, Arkansas, California and Alaska, and settled in Dallas in 1940. He and his wife had a truck farming business in Dallas County and sold their produce on the Dallas Farmers Market for over 40 years. He was confirmed in the presence of God and Oak Cliff Lutheran Church in Dallas, TX on May 24, 1953. Mr. James was preceded in death his parents, Addie and Ben James of Thorndale, TX and his brother, Allen James of Houston. Survivors include: His wife of 68 years: Minnie Margaret Ashleman James of Dallas A daughter: Carole Ann Bawcum of Dallas A sister: LouElla Howe of Houston A grandson: Henry Bawcum and his wife, Valerie Crowe of Garland A granddaughter: Carrie Enocksen and her husband, Eric of Hutchins Two great grandsons: Pete James O’Connor of Plano Lathe Alexander Bawcum, Two step great grandsons: Matt and Kenny Crowe, all of Garland WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
