Phil Chernoff, 59, of Waco, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in a local care center. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31, at Rodef Sholom Cemetery with Rabbi Ben-Zion Lanxner officiating. Phil was born April 10, 1963 in Waco to Saul Bernard Chernoff and Evelyn Robinson Chernoff. He was a member of Temple Rodef Sholom and a 1981 graduate of Richfield High School. Phil worked for his father at TSO as an Assistant Optical Lab Tech. Once his father retired, Phil pursued a career as a truck driver and later graduated from truck driving school. Later in life, Phil worked in the landscaping business for many years. Phil had a kind heart and was a very loyal and faithful friend. He loved animals, especially dogs. Phil was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by longtime girlfriend, Donna Dunham; brother, Samuel Mark Chernoff; nephew, Mark Thomas Chernoff; several other family members; and a host of very close friends. Phil had excellent caregivers from Bluebonnet Hospice to the very end including, Mark, Mykayla and Janie who was at his side constantly. Additionally, a special thank you to his special "Visiting Angel" Leanna. A reception will be held immediately following the graveside service. The address and directions will be announced after the service.
