Ramona Kathleen Harmdierks

Ramona Kathleen Harmdierks went to be with her Lord and Savior after a short battle with cancer. Ramona showed her strength and courage as she fought hard to the very end. Born in 1962 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas, to Ramon and Nancy Pappas, she was the second of four siblings. Ramona was born into a military family: both her grandfather and her father served in the armed forces. Ramona lived in the Waco area most of her life. She attended Midway High School and earned an Associate of Science from McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. She worked for the United States Postal Service before beginning her career as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Waco Family Medicine, formerly the Family Health Center. She worked at the Elm Clinic for thirteen years until a few weeks before she entered the hospital. Ramona will be remembered by everyone for her devoted love and affection for her dogs. Over the many years Ramona rescued and gave homes to eight dogs from local animal shelters. Anyone who knew Ramona knew that her dogs were her life. Indeed, they were her children. Ramona was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the movies with her co-workers. She will truly be missed by all her friends and co-workers who became her family when she really needed them. Ramona was preceeded in death by her grandparents, William and Cecilia Pappas; her father, Ramon Pappas; her mother, Nancy Pappas; and her sister, Cindy Pappas. She is survived by her last remaining and faithful dog, Buck, who has found a forever home. Donations can be made to Waco Humane Society or to any local Rescue of your choice.
