Ray Lynn Harrison, 80, was Promoted to Glory Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at The Salvation Army Waco Corps, 1225 Jack Kultgen Freeway, IH-35, Waco, Texas 76706, officiated by Major Jim Taylor and Major Jeffrey Miracle. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be Friday, November 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas.
Ray was born in Mexia, Texas, October 28, 1944, and he attended Waco High School. Ray married Janet Elaine Hall on August 5, 1966. He worked for the Dr Pepper Bottling Company in Waco for over 43 years. A man of faith, Ray was an active member of the Salvation Army Waco Corps for more than 65 years and loved playing his cornet in the church band. Ray also proudly served in the US Army National Guard for six years during the Viet Nam War era. His passions included his faith, family, Westerns, the Dallas Cowboys, playing 42, fishing, and vacations with loved ones.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Aron Wilmer Harrison and Lillie Fay Bunch Harrison; infant son, Robert Ray Harrison; granddaughter, Kayla Raye Engelbert; and four brothers and four sisters.
Ray is survived by his wife, Janet Elaine Harrison; daughter, Lynnette Elaine Harrison; son, Ray Lynn (Rusty) Harrison II and wife, Miranda; four grandchildren; sister, Linda Branscum and husband, Wayne; sister, Kay Shaw and husband, David; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be David Wheeler, Cleveland Wheeler, John Branscum, Robert Harrison, David Harrison, and Nathan Tinsley. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men’s Fellowship Club of The Salvation Army Waco Corps.
