Raymond Theodore Young December 29, 1922 - September 10, 2008 Raymond Theodore Young of Waco passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Raymond was born December 29, 1922 in Waco, Texas to John and Mary Young. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in E.A.M.E. Theater; awarded A.T. and ET Ribbons with two Battle Stars and Unit Citation and was in the Battle of Normandy. He co-founded and was past president of Young Brothers Construction. He founded and was president of Slurry Seal International, Inc. During his time at Slurry Seal he authored several operational manuals. Raymond founded International Slurry Pavers Association. He served on the Presidents Council Export Expansion Committee for several years during the Ronald Reagan administration. He co-donated with two of his brothers East Terrace to the Historic Waco Foundation. He served on the Advisory Board of Providence Health Center and was past president of the Home Owners Association and Architectural Committee of September Sound subdivision in Streetman, TX. He has Letters of Commendation for assistance in the road building industry from Kuwait, Mexico, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Spain. Raymond adored spending time with his beloved granddaughter, Michelle and working around at his cherished lake home. He loved to fish and be out in his boat, work in the garden, bird watching, traveling the world over many times and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Webb; grandson, Jerry Don Young; five brothers, Johnny, Jodie, Clarence, B.W. and Herbert Young; and sister-in-law, Wanda Bailey. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Frances Young; his daughter, Cathy Wire; granddaughter, Michelle Silva and husband, Joseph; brother, F.M. Young and wife, Gloria; three sisters, Mary Coats; Dorothy Riley and husband, J.C. and Cecelia Sulak; brother-in-law, Don Markum and wife, Jeanette; sisters-in-law, Sophie Jo Young, Bertie Young and Sophie Young; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and faithful friend, Yolanda Rodriguez. Pallbearers are his nephews: Davis Young, Eddie Young, Gary Young, Kenneth Young, Larry Young and Ronnie Young. Honorary pallbearers are S. M. Young, Bob Bradshaw, Newman Copeland, Tom Ernzen, Brian Harris, Bob Hawkins, Dalton Jaynes, Fain Johnson, Ken Keahey, Ray Leggett, Howard Mauldin, John Moran, Frank Nix, Buddy Obernosky, Ken Peek, Bob Province, Tommy Renchler, Clifton Robinson, Clayton, Uran and Darrell Young.
