Rebecca (Becky) Strahan Young passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022. Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 27, at Lorena First Baptist Church with Pastor Heath Kirkwood officiating. Burial will follow at Lorena Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Lorena First Baptist Church. Rebecca was born June 17, 1927, in Lorena, Texas, to Wilson B. and Jewell McBrayer Stanford. Rebecca was educated at Lorena Schools and graduated in 1944. She was a full-time homemaker and later worked at Lorena ISD; she retired in 1989. She enjoyed attending Lorena athletic events and Baylor athletic events. She also enjoyed being involved with the Buddies Class at Lorena First Baptist Church. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Lee Buddy Strahan, while they both worked at Hammond Machine Company. They were married 31 years before his death. They had three daughters, Brenda, Kathy, and Diane. In 1989, she married Edward Doy Young, who was a classmate from 1944. They were married for 30 years until his death. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buddy Strahan; her sister, Mary Dickey; her husband, Ed Young; and her great-grandson, Evan Abel. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Winkler and husband, John, Kathy Reich, Diane Muse and husband, Jerry; six grandchildren, Wendy Gates, Kristi Abel, Brad Hill, Blake Lusk, Kelly Holder and Greg Muse; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Becky’s grandsons and greatgrandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lorena First Baptist Church Building Fund. We would like to thank the staff and residents at Stoneybrook Assisted Living facility, Hewitt, Texas, for taking excellent care of her and making her last three years so enjoyable.
