Reita Joyce Hollingsworth

Reita Joyce Hollingsworth of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Heritage Oaks Village in Corsicana, Texas. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Reita was born May 28, 1924, in Euless, Texas, to Rev. E. M. and Ethel Daily. She was a 4-C Business College graduate and worked as secretary for the general manager at Brazos Electric Power Co-Op, giving up her position to allow her husband, Dan Sr., to begin his career there. She also worked several other office positions over the years in Waco. When her boys were younger, she contributed her time and effort in support of church, school, Little League activities and being a Cub Scout den mother. She liked to travel and camp. Being outdoors and tending her plants were also enjoyable to her. Her favorite pastime, however, was sewing and she was an excellent seamstress, spending countless hours at the sewing machine. She lovingly cared for her home but the kitchen was her personal domain. Her family, friends and many others enjoyed her cooking and baking skills over the years. Most importantly Reita was a Christian, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, loving her God, her family and home with all her heart. Reita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan H. Hollingsworth, Sr.; two brothers, Enoch Daily and Marvin Daily; and two sisters, Stella Gwin and Rebecca Daily. She is survived by two sons, Dan Jr. and Ken Hollingsworth; three grandchildren, Reita Hollingsworth Kelly, Dan Hollingsworth, III and Elizabeth Mayer; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Thalia Ponce and Ian Hollingsworth.
