Rev. D.L. Summers April 29, 1934 - February 18, 2011 Rev. D.L. Summers of Waco passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at a local hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Bill Daughtry and Rev. Curtis Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m.Sunday, February 20, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. D. L. was born April 29, 1934 in Winfield, Kansas to Harry and Erma Summers. He started preaching at the age of seventeen and evangilized for eleven years where he met the love of his life Barbara Woodruff. He moved to Waco in 1964 where he pastored for 38 years. While in Waco he traveled the world as a missionary doing the work he loved. He pastored at Victory Chapel in McGregor for eleven years where he retired from the ministry in June 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marvin Summers. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara Summers, one son; Derrall Summers and wife Mindy, one daughter; LaNae Morgan, 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and four more great grand children to arrive soon. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Robert Summers, Jerimiah Morgan, Jonathan Summers, Thomas Summers, Tim Rowland and Jennings Shotwell. Honorary pallbearer is Trey Morgan.
