Obituary for the Reverend William C. Treadwell, Jr. The Reverend William Charles Treadwell, Jr. died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at 7th and James Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. The family will receive visitors following the service in the narthex of the church. Interment will be in Greenwood, South Carolina. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 1124 Washington Ave. Reverend Treadwell was born February 25, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama to Frances Everett and the late William Charles Treadwell, Sr. Reverend Treadwell graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He served churches in South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina and Texas. He was adjunct professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, BTF, and Georgetown College, and concluded his ministry as Associate Professor at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. He was a founder of the Alliance of Baptists. Survivors include his wife, Lu, and his mother, Frances of Waco; his children, Cynthia and her husband the Reverend Franklin LaMaster of Chapel Hill, NC, the Reverend William C. Treadwell, III and his wife Christine of McKinney, TX, and Christy and her husband the Reverend Dr. James Somerville of Washington DC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca and Needham Atkins, Ashley and Erin LaMaster, Ellie and Catherine Somerville, Caleb, Colton and Caroline Treadwell. Finally, he is survived by his little black dog, Salado, AKC. The Treadwell family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the medical community in Waco for their skilled and attentive care. Pallbearers will be Rev. Roy Joe Ham, Grant Teaff, Dr. Keith Hartburg, Dr. Terry York, Rev. Jonathan Grant, Dr. Michael Morgan, Dr. Scott Walker, and Dr. Bill Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Truett Faculty. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Treadwell Christian Education Award at the George W. Truett Theological Seminary: Treadwell Endowed Fund, PO Box 97050, Baylor University, Waco, Texas 76798-7050. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
