Rhoda Louise Bernstein November 3, 1919 - February 14, 2007 Rhoda Louise Bernstein, formerly of Waco, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Colleyville, TX. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 16, at Rodef Sholom Cemetery Rabbi Mordechai Rotem officiating. The family will gather at the home of Fanchon Florsheim, 3700 Windmill Hill Dr., Waco, Tx 76710 after the service. Rhoda Louise was born November 3, 1919 in Groesbeck, TX to Abe and Toby Schwartz. She married Louis Bernstein of Ft. Worth on May 2, 1940 in Norfolk, VA while he was on active duty in the U.S. Navy. Before her marriage she attended the University of Texas. After the birth of her children, Sharon and Judy, Mrs. Bernstein spent her time raising her two daughters. When both girls left for college, Mrs. Bernstein became an active partner with her husband in their exclusive jewelry business, Lou Bernstein Diamond Broker in Waco. She was an avid reader, scrapbooker, volunteer and devoted wife and mother and lived her life for her family. Rhoda Bernstein was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Sharon Lux Zellner of Dallas, TX and Mrs. Judy Bernstein Balunda and her husband, David of Colleyville, TX; her four grandchildren; Mr. Scott Lux of Seattle, WA; Mrs. Jennifer Lux Chazanow of Dallas, TX; Mr. Sam Balunda and Ms. Adohre Balunda of Colleyville, TX. Her great-grandchildren include Katie Lux and Tyler Lux of Seattle, WA; Ross Chazanow and Chase Chazanow of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Harold Bird of Waco, TX. Memorial donations may be made to Friends for Life of Waco or to Vitas Hospice of Ft. Worth, TX.
