Rhonda Ackley Swenson

November 8, 1951 — January 14, 2024

Rhonda Ackley-Swenson, a beloved resident of Conroe, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on January 14, 2024, at the age of 72.


A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the Chapel at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.


Rhonda was born on November 8, 1951, in Whitney, Texas, to Cotton and Patricia James. The oldest of three children, Rhonda graduated from Waxahachie High School and went on to get her BS in Education from Baylor University in 1978. After the birth of her son, Freeland, she returned to Baylor to complete her Master of Science in Educational Psychology in 1986.


A pillar of strength and resilience, she faced life's challenges with grace, inspiring everyone around her. Known for her unwavering kindness and compassion, Rhonda dedicated her life to helping people and brought joy to countless others. Rhonda spent over 30 years teaching throughout many school districts in Texas. She was a passionate, loving teacher who always put her students first. Her vibrant spirit and warm smile blessed many students and co-workers over the years. She loved learning and even after retiring continued to take advanced college courses recently completing her Master Gardner certification.


Throughout the years, she lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Rhonda will forever be remembered for her infectious smile and kind-hearted nature, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Rhonda's departure leaves a void that words cannot express, she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors alike. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly, serving as a reminder of the lasting impact one person can make.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Swenson; and her parents, Cotton and Patricia James.


She leaves behind her son Freeland Ackley; her daughter in law, Brooke Ackley; her 5 grandkids: River, Wylder, Chapel, Story & Judah; as well, her brother Monte James; and her sister, Pam Jenkins.
