Ricardo Lira Reyes

Ricardo Lira Reyes December 27, 1926 – August 22, 2007 Ricardo L. Reyes, 80 of Waco passed away at his home after a long illness. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 25 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father David Liebham as celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be cited at 6:00 pm and visitation to follow Friday, August 24 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Ricardo was born December 27, 1926 in Waco, Texas to Trinidad and Mercedes Reyes. He married Toni Martinez, November 30, 1947. He attended West Junior High School, was co-owner of Reyes Cleaners and was a talented self-taught artist. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17 and served his country from 1943 to 1946 and fought at Guadalcanal, Okinawa and in China. He was also a member of the Disabled Veterans Association. He was the ultimate handyman and loved working on his van and tinkering in the garage and around the house. He spoiled his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with the latest toys and electronic gadgets. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Alfonso, older brother, Florentino and kid brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Toni Reyes; brother, Vincent Reyes of Waco; son, Rick Reyes and wife, Pam of Carrollton; daughter, Renée and husband, Mark Olvera of Lorena; son, Johnny and wife, Donna of Robinson; son, Jimmy of Waco; twelve grandchildren: Tina, Greg, Toni, Robyn, Jaime, Kara, Matthew, Joshua, Justin, Britney, Chris and Josh; twelve great grandchildren: Gabriella, Ann Claudia, Hanna, Jaime Jr., Garret, Jasmine, Colin, Chris Jr., Marissa, Jeremiah, Josiah and Josh Jr. and many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Richard was blessed to be lovingly cared for by Hillcrest Hospice team members: Judy, Sue, Connie, Sheshe and caregivers: Wanda, Lela, Minnie, Matilda, Sherry and Courtney.
