COTTLE, RICHARD Sr. Trooper Richard “Dickie” Cottle, age 51, of Woodway died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in an auto accident. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 12th at First Baptist Church of Woodway with Chaplain Ken Ashlock officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, May 11th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Cottle was born December 3, 1949 in Cleburne. He was reared by the late Joe and Esther Cottle. He was a graduate of Cleburne High School, class of 68, where he played football and was an avid bullrider. During his senior year he advanced to the High School Rodeo State Finals and won 3rd place in the bullriding competition. He also graduated from Navarro Jr. College and the DPS Academy Class of 1972. He had also worked for a short time with the Santa Fe Railroad. He began working as a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety working through the ranks to Sr. Trooper with 30 years of service. His greatest service was mentoring his family and having them get involved in law enforcement. He was a Mason, member Lodge #1127. He loved hunting, fishing, scuba diving and all other outdoor sports. Dickie held his family very dear and close to his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Survivors include: His wife: Marsha Cottle of Woodway Daughter: Crystal Cottle and Paul Brown of Austin Sons: Chatt and Jennifer Cottle of Austin Chad Buenger, Justin Buenger both of Woodway Sisters: Carleen Deering of Denton Brothers: Jamie Beene of Cleburne Odell Logan of Burleson Uncles: Ben Hughes and Bill Hughes Pallbearers will be Brad Crook, Pete Peterson, Daryl Tynes, Gary Brown, Ronnie Reed, and Tom Dixon. Honorary pallbearers are all State of Texas D.P.S. Officers. Memorials may be made to charity of choice. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
