Richard Gail Okner

Richard Gail Okner, 76, passed away December 16, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023 at The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, TX.

He was born November 3, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. A gymnast at Oak Park and River Forest High, he graduated in 1964. He was a paratrooper with the Army 101st Airborne, and served in Vietnam. Interests included fitness, martial arts, and operating pizza businesses.

Richard was a dedicated, loving & supportive husband, step-father, step grandfather & great grandfather. He loved the Lord with all of his heart, helping others in need, and he studied and became a knowledgeable student of the Bible.

He is preceded in death by parents, Henry B. Okner M.D. and Annette Okner.

Survivors include wife Christy Nelson Okner, Lorena, Texas; step-children Darin, Steven & Holly; six step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; his brother, Michael Okner and wife, Linda, Newark, Delaware; nephew, David Okner and niece, Melissa Okner; his sister, Elizabeth Betsy Okner, Chicago.
