November 12, 1917 — April 18, 2004

BLACKBURN, ROBERT Robert Milton “Pete” Blackburn went to be with his heavenly Father Sunday, April 18, 2004. Services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 20, at First United Methodist Church of Waco with the Rev. Steve Ramsdell officiating. Interment will follow at 12 noon at Hillcrest Garden of Memories Cemetery near Hillsboro, Texas. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, April 19, at the funeral home, Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey on Bosque Blvd. Mr. Blackburn was born November 12, 1917, one of twelve children of Fannie Alice Plunkett Blackburn and William Henry Blackburn. He grew up in the Arnottville Community of Hill County and attended Arnottville and Hillsboro schools. He served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. On August 20, 1938, he married Eddie Mae Gray of Hillsboro in Waxahachie, Texas. After 43 years of employment, he retired from Texas Power & Light Co. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco, Texas and a faithful member of the Odell Dudley Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Alton B., Howard, Woodrow, John Henry, and Kenneth Ray, and his sisters Dollie Mae McCullough, Ruth Gordon, Alice McGuire, Minni Bell Abernathy, and Mary Frances. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Eddie Mae Gray Blackburn; daughter, Kay Crocker of Waco; his twin sister, Mildred Newton of Bridgeport, Texas; grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Don Clanton, Dr. Arch Coleman, Carroll Fletcher, Bill Cummins, Ken Geisler, Jerry Dixon, Bob Teer, and George Waldrop.
