BROWNING, ROBERT Robert Browning, age 74 of Waco died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at his residence. Services will be held at 9:30am Saturday, May 17 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with the Rev. Armando Virgen and the Rev. Michael Toby officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Friday, May 16 at the funeral home. Mr. Browning was born January 18, 1929 in Wichita Falls and attended school there. He moved to California before joining the army. He served with the 88th Infantry “Blue Devils” and 2nd Armored Division during WWII and Korea. He was awarded the Five Bronze Stars during the Korean Conflict. After Korea he was stationed at Fort Hood as Master Sgt Tank Commander. He married Helen Ramirez March 8, 1952. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodway, member of American Legion Post 121, V.F.W. Post 6008 & DAV Post #3, as well as TRUST Tanker Alumni. He enjoyed gospel music and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patsy Bedford. Survivors include wife, Helen R. Browning of Waco; daughter, Belena Stewart and husband, Roland of Tomball, Texas; son, Mark Robert Browning of Waco; grandchildren, Justin, Joel, Kyle and Kaitlyn Stewart; sisters, Jessie Mae Pond of Wichita Falls, Betty Randall of South Carolina, Jane Browning of Wichita Falls, and Wanda Carson of Nocona, Texas; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Browning of Levington, New Mexico; nieces, nephews and their children. Pallbearers will be Fred Gowdy, Ed Melzer, Eric Hammer, Dink Hunnicutt, Roland O. Stewart, and Jim Gray. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Adamik, Charles Nobles, Ray Cisneros, James O’Halloran, Ernest Medina, and Clarence Webb.
