Robert Bruce Mazzare, 81, went to be with Jesus in heaven on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at his home. Bruce’s Celebration of Life will be Sunday, February 27, at 3:00 pm at Antioch Community Church in Waco. Bruce was born in Houston on October 2, 1940. He graduated from Shriner High School in Kerrville and attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he received a Bachelor of Science. He then transferred to the University of Texas in Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. He was a member of ROTC and upon graduation was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army and served a two-year term during which he served in Vietnam. After his service, he worked for Shell Oil Company in Pasadena. He left Shell and established his own management consulting company, Management Development Systems in 1975. Bruce met Carol, his wife, at TCU and they were married on August 25, 1962. They were married for 59 years. Bruce loved Jesus and followed Him diligently, praying for his family and others every day. He spent time every day in God’s Word and believed its power for salvation. His greatest joy was telling others about Jesus. He was always a possibility thinker and had a positive outlook on everything. This was illustrated by his family motto: “I feel healthy, I feel happy, and I feel terrific!” This was recited daily at the family breakfast table. He was an endless encourager and made people feel like they were valued and loved. He was a believer in the saying “a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.” Bruce was a counselor, advisor, and man of wisdom who taught his family and friends many valuable life lessons. One of his favorite past times was playing golf with a group of friends, trying to visit as many golf courses as they could. He also loved to travel and make memories through experiences. Bruce taught Sunday School, led lifegroups, and worked with Antioch Missions International, helping church planters establish businesses in their home countries, traveling to many of those countries for training seminars. He was a member of Rotary, the Waco Chamber of Commerce, on the board of CareNet of Waco, and a founding board member of Mental Health Grace Alliance. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Monica Vardeman and husband, Brad; son, Mark Mazzare’ and wife, Holly; grandchildren, Braden Vardeman and wife, Hannah, Makayla Vardeman, Chandler Vardeman, Zoe Grace Mazzare, Brazos Mazzare, and Brooks Mazzare; and one great granddaughter expected in April. Memorials gifts may be made to any charity of your choice.
