Robert Claypool October 11, 1936 – April 17, 2016 George Robert Claypool passed away April 17, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, April 19 at 12:00 p.m. in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Bob was born October 11, 1936 in Charleston, West Virginia. He grew up in Logan, West Virginia where he was very active in the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was the first person in Logan County to ever receive the God and Country Award. He attended the University of Cincinnati and Boston University where he was a Beta Theta Pi and treasurer and pledge captain of his fraternity. He married his wife Gwen in 1955 and they lived all over the East Coast as Bob worked as Comptroller of the Norton Company in Newton, Massachusetts, Vice President of Tucker Manufacturing in Leominster, Massachusetts and President of Tyndale in Philadelphia. In 1976 Bob and Gwen moved to Waco where he was President of the Southwest Region of the Certainteed Corporation and later he started his own CPA firm. Bob was very active in the community and in Waco served for ten years on the Hillcrest Board of Development, was Vice President and treasurer of the United Way Foundation, and Chairman of the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course Advisory Board to name just a few. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Gwen in 2015. He is survived by sons, Gary and David Claypool; daughters Rebecca Claypool and Sherry Claypool Kuehl and son-in-law Kliff Kuehl; seven grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Jonathan Robert, Henry and Emma Claypool, Austin and Isabella Kuehl. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer Association, McLennan County United Way and the Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center.
