Robert E. Lauck, Jr., M.D. November 15, 1915 January 5, 2013 Dr. Robert E. Lauck, Jr. of Waco passed away Saturday January 5th in Waco. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 10, at Waco Memorial Park with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Dr. Lauck was born and raised in Taylor, Texas. He graduated from Taylor High School and was a star quarterback for his beloved Taylor Ducks in the early 1930's. He graduated from Baylor University and Baylor Medical School and served his Residency in Baltimore, Maryland through 1941. He volunteered for the Army following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and served as Chief Medical Officer of the 96th Engineers in New Guinea. While on leave in Sydney, Australia, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Reeves. They were married soon after and then did not see each other again for 18 months as he continued his assignment in the Philippines. Following the War, Dr. Lauck returned to Baylor Medical School to pursue his specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology, later setting up his practice in Tyler in early 1949. Dr. Lauck, along with dozens of other Doctors, nurses and administrators, helped found Tyler as the "medical center" of East Texas. He brought many children into the world as part of the "Baby Boom. He enjoyed the company of many dear friends and colleagues in Tyler and fondly remembered the wonderful times and people in East Texas. He closed his practice in 1980 following the death of his youngest son. Dr. and Mrs. Lauck moved to Waco to be near family and he practiced medicine through the late 1990's. He was a loving father and husband and a true hero to his children. A life-long Baptist, he lived by the word of God in his daily life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, his son Stephen and sister, Gene Hamilton. He is survived by his son, Robert of Waco and wife, Dolores, his son, Craig of Galveston and son, Glenn of Waco; three grandchildren, Bobby and wife, Holly of Flower Mound, Kris and wife, Ann of Troy, Ohio and Nick and wife, Sheena of Round Rock. Dr. Lauck is also survived by his sister-In-Law, Hazel Cashman; nephews, Bobby Hamilton of White House and Dale Hamilton of Dallas; and six great-grandchildren, Corin, Chloe, Korey, Abbey, Lilly and Fiona.
