Robert Earle Bright of Waco passed away Friday, December 23, 2016, at Arbor House of Waco. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Wible officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Robert was born April 13, 1923, in Waco, Texas, to George and Mary LaVerne Bright. He lived his entire life in Waco, graduating in 1940 from Waco High and from Baylor University with a BBA in Accounting. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. He worked eight years for the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in the accounting department, and he was the General Manager of the Baylor Bookstore from 1955 to 1978. Robert was also a member of Highland Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He also served as Election Judge a number of years at Dean Highland School. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Dorcas. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Bright and wife, Kathy, of Rockdale, Texas, and David Bright and wife, Eileen, of Charlotte, North Carolina; three granddaughters, Rebecca Bright of Rockdale, Sarah Bright Patterson and husband, Christopher, of Chicago, and Angela Popernack and husband, Paul, of Prince Frederick, Maryland; two great-grandsons, Jonathan Bright and Asher Patterson; and two great-granddaughters, Devon Bright Patterson and Tabitha Popernack.
