Robert Edmond Smith January 26, 1924 - June 14, 2006 Robert Edmond Smith of Hewitt passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at St. Catherine's Center. Services and burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2006 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX. Robert was born January 26, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Orval and Alta Mae Smith. He graduated from Wymore High School in Wymore, NE in 1942 and attended the University of New Mexico and the University of Denver. Robert was a World War II Army Veteran in the Pacific Theater 1943-1946 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His civil engineering Federal career included three entities with the Corps of Engineer: Omaha District, Army Map Service and the Ballistic Missile Construction Program. The two entities with the Department of Interior included the Bureau of Reclamation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepdaughter, Cathy Oliver. He is survived by his wife Thelma Smith, daughter, Sandi Keller and husband, Keith and granddaughter Josalyn Keller; and daughter Lauri Walsdorf and triplet grandchildren Kash, Kyle and Kyndall Walsdorf.
