Robert Eugene Gylling April 29, 1931 - November 29, 2011 Robert Eugene Bob Gylling, 80, of Eddy, Texas, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with long-time friend, Buford Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Bob was born April 29, 1931, in Sanford, Colorado, to the late Orval Reid and Alice Gylling. He attended San Benito High School where he lettered in football and basketball. As quarterback, Bob led the 1948 Greyhounds to a district championship over Harlingen High School. He attended Edinburg Junior College before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his BS in Pharmacy in 1956. He remained a devoted Longhorn throughout his life. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Niki Nicholson, on August 4, 1950, and remained married for 48 years until her death. In February of 1999, he married his devoted wife, Charlotte Flowers, who remained by his side until the end. Bob was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend, who enjoyed golf, dove hunting and rooting for his beloved "Longhorns". Bob's career as a pharmacist spanned 55+ years, where he served Central Texas residents as a staff pharmacist, store manager, and specialized in providing geriatric medicine to local nursing homes for a number of years. In 2006, Bob was recognized by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy for dedicating 50 years to the practice of pharmacy. Bob was a member of the Texas Pharmacy Association, Texas-Exes and Mooreville United Methodist Church. Bob is survived by a son, Robert Eugene Gylling, II and wife, Donna, of The Woodlands, Tex.; daughter, Diana Paige Hill and husband, Randy, of Rio Hondo, Tex.; step-daughters, Charlsea Flowers of Auburn, Alabama, and Hannah Flowers of Waco. He is also survived by grandsons, Tyler and Nick Hill of Rio Hondo; and granddaughters, Lucy and Sadie Gylling of The Woodlands; his brother, Bud Gylling of Golden, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Robert Gylling II, Randy Hill, Tyler Hill, Nick Hill, Doug Kincannon and Tom Davis. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice for all the love and care provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mooreville United Methodist Church-Memorial Fund, the American Cancer Society, Fuzzy Friends of Waco, or to a charity of choice.
