Robert Eugene Kunze

Robert Eugene Kunze passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, at St. John United Church of Christ in Robinson with Rev. Jacob Brenton officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.


Robert was born November 2, 1932, in Waco, to Gustav and Emma Kunze. Robert was a graduate of Waco Technical High School, and The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He worked at Rocketdyne in McGregor, J.M. Woods in Waco, and retired from V.A. Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a Master Mason, 32o Scottish Rite Mason, Karem Shriner, and Royal Order of Jesters. He enjoyed volunteering his services at Providence Hospital. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends and participating in activities like establishing EZNUK Farm, camping everywhere including Garner State Park, watching UT football, road trips and much more.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian Ann Kunze; sister, Mary Lou Jahnke; brother, Paul G. Kunze; and brother, John (Freddie) Kunze.


He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Gregory Kunze (Diane), Jeff Kunze (Amy), and Valerie Howard (Barry); siblings, Shirley Flores (Rudy) and James Kunze (Sue); step-children, Clint Wolske (Kari), Clay Wolske (Sheryl), and Christy Sharp (Alan); granddaughters, Whitney Washburn (Jeff), Lindsey Sternberg (Rodger), and Macy Kunze; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and numerous step-grandchildren.


Pallbearers are Joel Kunze, Brent Sykora, Tommy Sykora, Carl Meier, Scott Pierce, George Simpson and honorary pallbearer Jay Kunze.
