Robert G. Thompson passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in Waco, Texas. Robert was born September 28, 1922, in Millburn, New Jersey, to Frederick and Alice Thompson. Upon graduating from Millburn High School, he served in the U.S. Army in WWII as a member of the Corps of Army engineers. Later, he attended the Art Students League in New York City. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marcel E. Thompson; sister, Alice Rackus; and his son, Mark F. Thompson. Married for 68 years, Robert is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughter, Patricia A. Nodes; son-in-law, Daniel J. Nodes; grandchildren, Jennifer E. Nodes and Daniel J. Nodes, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Abigail and Emily Nodes. Robert shared his love of art, letter writing and nature with his family who are forever grateful. Services will be provided by the Jacob Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood, New Jersey, with a viewing 2-5 p.m., Sunday, January 29. There will be a graveside service and burial at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 30, in the cemetery at St. Stephens Church in Millburn.
