Robert Coffelt, 84, passed away at BSW Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco Thursday, February 10, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home (6101 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX 76710). Bob was born March 19, 1937, near Iredel, Texas, to Henry Gilbert Coffelt and Lennie Eula Golden. He was a grandson of George Washington Coffelt and Ruth Gilbert and of Lucious Edward Golden and Mary Helen Blue. On June 14, 1958, he married Sue Swaner who was a daughter of Eddie A. Swaner and Hortense Cannon. They were happily married for almost 60 years. He worked at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in New Mexico. After returning to Texas, he served as Director of Building Operations for the city of Garland. He then became active as a city manager, serving the cities of Granbury, Lampasas, Cedar Park, Glenn Heights, and Bridge City, from where he retired to his ranch near Clifton, Texas. He continued to work as a municipal consultant for several years after his retirement. He and Sue were avid genealogists and published two family history books. Bob is survived by his brother, Henry Rex Coffelt, of Clifton; niece, Tami Burch, of Woodway, Texas; nephew, Brad Coffelt of Whitney, Texas; and sister-in-law, Mary Helen Swaner, of Dallas, Texas.
