Robert L. Murray August 1, 1926 - October 17, 2012 Robert L. Murray of Woodway passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Moore officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Robert was born August 1, 1926, in Peoria, Illinois, to Robert and Laura Murray. He joined the Navy and served in the Seabees in WWII. When the war was over, he went to college at Eastern Illinois University, where he met the love of his life, Jo Craig. He joined the Air Force, and they were married before going to his first duty station in Denver. He served at various places around the country, in Europe and South East Asia. When he retired from the Air Force, after 31 years of military service, he worked at the Veterans Administration until he retired again. After retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling all over the country. He enjoyed hunting and shooting, was a Mason and a Shriner, a Boy Scout leader, and a Reserve Public Safety Officer in Woodway. He always enjoyed learning new things. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife. He is survived by two daughters, Jo Ellen Kohl and husband, Danny, of McGregor, and Virginia Higginbotham and husband, John, of Plano; two sons, Robert Lyndon Murray III, and wife, Michelle, of Euless, and Mark Taylor Murray and wife, Donna, of Del City, OK; six grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
