Robert Lee Pruitt, 94, passed away April 29, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum on Thursday, May 5, at 2 pm. Visitation will be held in the Garden Room of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey on Wednesday, May 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Bob was born October 12, 1927, near Lewisville, Texas to Verner Pruitt and Faye McCommas-Pruitt. He was the oldest of five children. The other four have already passed on, as well as his parents. Bob left the farm and joined the U.S. Navy in 1945, serving until 1947, being one of the youngest WWII veterans. Bob held a pilot’s license and a control tower operator’s license. On May 22, 1948, Bob married Alyne Harvey, the love of his life. The union produced two children, Roger Pruitt and Sharon Pruitt Wilkinson. Before becoming a career law enforcement officer, Bob tried many professions including bookkeeper, auto mechanic, etc. He has been a commissioned law enforcement officer since May, 1956, serving with Denton P.D. before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety. He retired from Traffic Law enforcement in 1987 and joined the special Texas Rangers. He was a life member of DPS Officer’s Association. Bob was a life member of I.O.O.F. and an ordained Baptist deacon. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Verner and Faye Pruitt; brothers, Earl Ray Pruitt and Johnny Pruitt; sisters, Geneva Davis and Laverne Morris. Bob is survived by his wife, Alyne; son, Roger Pruitt; daughter, Sharon Wilkinson; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
