Robin LaQuita Goodson, affectionately known as Quita, was born on July 4, 1954, in Corpus Christi. She passed away on March 24, 2025, in Waco, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. For many years, she dedicated herself to her career as an in-home caregiver, making a profound impact on the lives of those she assisted with her caring nature.
A memorial service to honor Quita's life will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Gallatin Missionary Baptist Church, 252 Melton St., Gallatin, Texas. Reception in the Fellowship Hall to follow.
Quita was a vibrant personality who captured the hearts of many. She was known for her love of the color purple—everything in her world seemed to embody that hue. Her spunky and fiery attitude shone brightly, especially during her spirited support of the Dallas Cowboys, loudly cheering them on, no matter where she found herself. A strong woman who raised her children on her own, Quita was fiercely loyal and never hesitated to stand up for those in need.
In her youth, Quita might have been considered a hippie, embracing the freedom of that spirit, but as she matured, she found solace and strength in her Spiritual Christian beliefs. Her love for music was expansive, ranging from the classic sounds of The Beatles and Bon Jovi to the heartfelt tunes of Garth Brooks and King George, each note resonating with her lively spirit.
Known for her immaculate and organized home, Quita was also a remarkable cook, always able to bring families together through her cooking skills. Throughout her life, she had a remarkable ability to connect with anyone she met. It was not uncommon for her family to find her in the grocery store, her laughter and warmth echoing through the aisles as she conversed with friends and strangers alike.
Quita is survived by her son, Roberto Joel Gonzalez and his wife, Becky; daughters, Michelle Benck and T.J. Sobczak and her husband, Michael; sister, MiLisa Schilhab; the father of her son, Roberto Gonzalez; and seven loving grandchildren, Weston, Justin, Kaleigh, Josh, Kase, Marissa, and Erielle. She is also remembered by several other loving family members and friends.
Quita was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Wayne and Shelby Jean George Starkey; her brother, Joel Starkey; her son-in-law, Michael Benck; and the father of her daughters, Gary Cooper.
Quita will be deeply missed, but her loving spirit and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
