Roger Edward Kuehl September 21, 1952 April 2, 2010 Roger Edward Kuehl, 57, of Axtell, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010. Services will be Tuesday April 6, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Walter Albers and Pastor Joel Boesche officiating. Private burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery, officiated by Brother Micheal Moore. Visitation will be Monday April 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Roger was born in Sinton, TX on September 21, 1952, to Arthur and Connie Kuehl. He grew up in Sinton and went to Sinton High School. He later moved to New Mexico and graduated from Artesia High School in 1971. He attended New Mexico State in Las Cruces, NM. He worked at Amoco Oil in Las Cruces, NM for over 20 years. After surviving a courageous battle with cancer, God gave him the strength to move on in his life. Roger gave God the credit for surviving. In 1993, he met his wife Diana and they married on June 14, 1997. Roger became a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead in 1996. He loved the farm in Axtell, and he and Diana spent hours outside gardening, mowing grass and feeding the beautiful birds, while watching Gretchen run and play. Golf was his joy and he and the St. Paul Golfers played golf every Monday morning. He was very dedicated to the American Cancer Society as he served as Chairman for Road to Recovery. He had many wonderful drivers who graciously gave their time in driving cancer patients to their appointments. Roger loved his Mom and Dad dearly and spent much time with them helping them in any way possible. He spent much time watching baseball and discussing baseball with his dad as his Dad was a professional baseball player for the New York Yankees. Roger was preceded in death by his sister Vicki Kuehl; uncles Jack, J. T. and Andrew Kuehl; aunts Floy Kuehl and Sherry Kuehl; grandparents Edwin and Annie Kuehl, Luther and Zelda Carlton. Survivors include his wife, Diana Kuehl of Axtell; parents, Arthur and Connie Kuehl of Robinson; step-daughter Tammie Albers and husband David of Waco; two step grand-daughters, Sara and Emmalie Albers, who he loved so much. Also survived by aunts Vivian Kunz and husband Pete of Cameron, Lorraine Varner of Waco, Marilyn Smith of Waco, Laurita Kuehl of Axtell; uncles Edwin Chief Kuehl and wife, Diane of Grand Prairie, Gene Boogie Kuehl of Lorena and Donnie Kuehl of Aledo; sisters- and brothers-in-law Janie and Jerome Lehrmann, Peggy and Erwin Dieterich and Jerry and Leslie Vicha, who he enjoyed spending time with, and many cousins and nieces who he loved. Lastly, his loving dog "Gretchen." Pallbearers will be Sloan Kuehl, Todd Smith, Scot Smith, James Kuehl, Dillon Kuehl, Matthew Kuehl, Robert Patterson, Dale Lafferty. Honorary Pallbearers are Alan Kuehl, Jack Kuehl, Jeff Howard, Rodney Howard, Gene Reinhardt, Bobby Nawara, Marvin Becker, Bart Richardson, Leroy Becker, Stan Leuschner, Tommy Gascamp, Henry Lewellen, Bill Johnson, Mark Wingate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1301 Hogan Lane, Waco, TX 76705 or to the American Cancer Society.
