Roland V. Clark, Jr. September 3, 1925 - May 19, 2007 Roland V. Clark, Jr. was called home to his Heavenly Father Saturday, May 19, 2007 at a local hospital. Chapel services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The second born son of R. V. Clark, Sr. and Bethel McCollum Clark, Roland attended and graduated from Bremond High School in 1942; business school in Austin, TX; and Baylor University with a BBA in Accounting in 1968. Roland married Betty Bickel on July 9, 1961, in McGregor, TX. His work experience included Central Texas companies: Southern Pacific Railroad, Behren Drug Co., Hercules Inc., Atco and Leon’s Fashions. Roland made his profession of faith as a child. Maturing in his faith, he was ordained as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and continued in that role at Western Heights Baptist Church. His community service included being a volunteer at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and with hospice patients. A kind, devoted and loving son, husband, father and grandfather, Roland was a compassionate friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.V. Clark, Sr. of Bremond, TX. and his brother, Emmitt “Mack” Clark of Walden, Lake Conroe. Surviving him are Betty, his devoted wife and best friend of 45 years; loving daughter, Robyn Clark Partridge and husband, Dr. David B. Partridge of Richmond, TX; treasured granddaughter, Meredith Paige Kersten of Richmond, TX; sister-in-law, Billie Jean Bothager Clark of Walden, Lake Conroe; niece, Diann Clark Regitz and husband, Al; nephew, Chris Clark of Houston; also special cousins, Beatrice Clark Robertson and husband, Ralph of Waco; Margaret Clark Gray and husband, Sam of Denton, TX; as well as numerous extended family members, long time friends, Billy R. and Evelyn Edwards, friends at the Getterman Wellness Center, and supportive Christian friends. Pallbearers are Dr. David B. Partridge, Bill Helton, C. L. Fisher, Chris Rosser, Stephen Schneider, Rev. Jimmy Spann, Glenn Chaneyworth and Joe Ed Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Robertson, Clark Robertson, Chris Clark, Billy R. Edwards, Walter Boyd, Orville Jobe, Western Heights Baptist Church deacons, Partners S.S. Class and Westchester Drive cul-de-sac friends. The family expresses deep appreciation to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center physicians, Drs. Duchamp, Lovett, Patel and Tullos, as well as the nursing staffs of MICU, SICU and 3A; and gratitude is expressed to his special caregiver, Cindy Cantrell.
