Ronald Coleman Gilbert

Ronnie passed away on September 18, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1938, in Abilene, Texas, to Reverend Charles and Louise Gilbert. Ronnie graduated from Hamilton High School in 1957 and from Baylor University. Meeting his first wife, Melba Gilbert, they stayed in Waco. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 30 years, Sue Farris Gilbert. He has been a member of Lakewood Christian Church for over 50 years. Ronnie’s professional experience ranged among: Texas Highway Department, Marlin and Waco Independent School Districts, Real Estate Broker and Salesman, McLennan County Real Estate Appraiser and Independent Real Estate Appraiser. He remodeled homes and rental property. Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman; hunting from Kansas to the Texas border and fishing from the Colorado Rockies to the Texas coast. He enjoyed woodworking and snow skiing in Canada with his sons and granddaughters. Also, he enjoyed traveling across the US and Europe. He is survived by wife, Lana Gilbert; sister, Karen Hargrove; Randy Gilbert, Darren Gilbert and Michelle Potter, Richard Martin and Vern Gransden, John Martin and Jana Singleton Martin, Terri Barrett, Todd and Kimberli Dunham, Dawn and Paul Barerra, and Kelli Dunham Bankston. Grandchildren included Hannah Gilbert, Sarah Gilbert, Caitlyn and Elliot Klement, Ashton Barrett, Joshua and Kaitlin Stroud, Erin Barerra, Kate Barerra and Cole Barrera, Kylee Bankston, Benton Bankston, Kara Bankston. Great grandchildren include Karli Klement, Claire Klement, Kinley Klement and Adessa Broyles.
