Rosa Casillas, 95, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. A Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m., February 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Rosa was born July 31, 1925, in Coolidge, Texas. She worked several years as a seamstress at J.M. Woods before retiring. She enjoyed being with family and friends, celebrating milestones, cooking family favorites, and taking an occasional trip to Winstar to play her favorite slot machines with a margarita in hand. Rosa married the love of her life, George Casillas, Sr., on January 22, 1945, and were happily married for nearly 50 years. She dedicated her life as a loving wife and mother. She lived a life of love, happiness, wisdom, and good health and inspired her children to do the same. She openly expressed her love to her family, chose goodness versus the alternative, was a mentor to many by sharing her life experiences, and up until she turned 90, she would walk 2 miles a day and complete 50 crunches. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Casillas, Sr.; sister, Maria Cruz; sons, George Casillas, Jr., and Gonzalo Casillas; daughter, Lydia “Lillie” Martinez; and grandsons, John Robert and Joe Frank Alonzo. She is survived by her daughters, Josie Alonzo and husband, Ygnacio, and Janie Hurtado and husband, Richard; sons, Johnny Casillas and partner, Chuck Gekiere, and Joe Casillas; niece, Frances Garcia and husband, Pete; and several grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
