Rosalie Jenkins Davis

December 22, 1923 — August 6, 2014

Rosalie Jenkins Davis December 22, 1923 - August 6, 2014 On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, Rosalie Jenkins Davis departed this earthly presence to join her dearly loved husband and her heavenly Father for eternity. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church followed by a reception at the church. This will be preceded by a family graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosalie was the only child of Telfair and Ruth Jenkins. She was born in Waco, attended Waco public schools and Baylor University. In 1949 she married the love of her life, William P. "Bill" Davis, and together they reared his two children, William Prather Davis, Jr., and Donald Benjamin Davis. Rosalie was an active member of St. Paul's Church for many years. She was a member of the Junior League of Waco, Historic Waco Foundation, The Brazos Forum, and served on numerous committees of the The Waco Cotton Palace Pageant. Rosalie and her husband, Bill, enjoyed boating on Lake Waco on The Rosebud and traveling with their cousins, Martha and Davis Temple as well as close friends, Mary Katherine and Henry Dietz. She also had a special place in her heart for her Mahjong group. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and her oldest son, Prather. Rosalie is survived by her son, Donald and his wife, Tommye Lou; four grandchildren, Warren Davis, Christi Lee and husband, Jeff, Martha Davis, and John David Whittenburg and wife, Amanda; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime family friend, Annie Griggs. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides on the fourth floor of St. Catherine, especially Mary and Lacy, for their loving care and perseverance. We would also like to thank Freddie Mae, Annie N. and Helen for their many years of caring for our "Gran." The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Historic Waco Foundation, or the charity of your choice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WHBfamily.com.
