BURKE, ROSE SIMON Rose Simon Burke, 88 of Waco, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Thursday, October 14 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6pm Wednesday, October 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with visitation with the family to follow. Mrs. Burke was born October 23, 1915 in Waco to J. Fred Simon Sr. and Rosa Simon. She graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart in Waco May 30, 1933. She attended Baylor University and Lady of Victory College in Fort Worth. She worked for Nick Flood for 31 years. She married Charlie M. Burke April 13, 1968 and moved to Killeen as Charlie was District Manager of Lone Star Gas Company. He preceded her in death August 9, 1998. She returned to Waco in April 1999. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Jerome Catholic Church. She was a Paul Harris Fellow of Killeen Rotary Club. She is survived by daughters, Margaret R. Williams of Belton; Billie M. Arnold of Houston, and Donna B. McKinley of Plano; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Diane S. Ferguson of Hewitt, Susan S. Poulter of Buford, Georgia, J. Fred Simon, III of Hewitt, Mark B. Simon of Waco, Michael R. Simon of Waco, Ralph P. Simon of Austin, Thomas Brian Simon of Austin, John Alan Logue of Kent, Ohio and by best friend, Mary A. Korioth of Waco. Pallbearers will be Brian Ferguson, Michael Simon, Jr., David Mickits, David Rinn, Kevin Rinn, Bill Korioth, Michael McKinley, and Chris Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are nephews, Bob Ferguson, John Poulter, Bill Williams and Judge Bill Logue. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
