Royce Leonard Calvert

Royce L. Calvert, 91, of Waco passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, at Bosqueville Baptist Church with Dr. Stanton C. Calvert officiating with burial to follow at Bosqueville Cemetery. Mr. Calvert was born June 25, 1916 in Hewitt, TX to Robert and Hester McClain Calvert. He attended local schools, graduated from Waco High School in 1935 and attended Tulane University. He served on the Texas Highway Patrol and in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII. In 1951 he joined the National Automobile Theft Bureau and retired in 1980 as Southeastern Regional Manager. He was married to Virginia Stewart for 56 years until her death in 1998. He was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Calvert Garner and husband, Scott of Waco; and his son, Stephen R. Calvert and wife, Diane of Paris, France; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher M. Bulger and wife, Dr. Judy Huang-Bulger of Manchester, CT; Sarah A. Garner of Arlington, VA; Betsy Garner Modrzejewski and husband, Brian of Keller, TX; Stephen S. Garner of Waco; and three great-grandsons, Matthew and Alexander Bulger and Quinn Modrzejewski. Pallbearers are David Calvert, Stephen Garner, Brian Modrzejewski, Clint Detlefsen, Dewey Geary and Bryan Haywood. Memorials may be made to Baylor Alumni Association or the charity of choice.
