Ruby Huddleston January 16, 1920 October 4, 2008 Ruby Eugenia Holze Huddleston, 88 of Waco, joined her Savior in Heaven on October 4, 2008. A celebration of her life will be on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Waco, with Rev. Steve Ramsdell, Senior Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Ruby was born January 16, 1920 in Riesel, Texas to Louis C. and Agnes Holze. Her family moved to Waco where she graduated from Waco High School in 1937. While attending Baylor University, she met and married Eugene Gene L. Huddleston on December 24, 1938. Born to their union were four children, three sons and a daughter. Ruby was a life long member of the Methodist Church. She was an accomplished organist and pianist. She was organist at First United Methodist from 1952 1956; at Cogdell Memorial Methodist from 1957 1967 where she was also Church secretary. In 1968, she became organist at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home. She viewed this as a special ministry, using the beloved hymns of the Church as well as other religious music. She retired from this ministry in 1990. She was loved by many for her quiet, gentle spirit. Her trust and belief in her Savior Jesus Christ guided her through a lifetime of service to her family and to others. She was a charter member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service, Bible Study Fellowship and choir member. Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, her brother, Lewis R. Holze, her sister, Eva M. Patterson, her son, Dr. Gary L. Huddleston and her great-granddaughter, Anna Denise Huggins. Survivors include her beloved husband, Gene Huddleston of Waco, her son Brian C. Huddleston and wife Ann of San Antonio, her son Dr. Alan L. Huddleston and wife Connie of Frisco, her daughter Sheryl Ann Cobbs and husband Darrell of Waco, her brothers-in-law Fred Patterson and David Huddleston, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Meals on Wheels and the Music Ministry at 1901 Cobbs Dr., Waco 76710; and Providence Hospice at 4830 Lakewood Dr. Suite 5, Waco 76710.
