RUBY FAY WHITE GARNER October 10, 1918 August 1, 2009 Ruby Garner, 90, much loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on August 1, 2009, in Lakeway, Texas. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel in Waco, Texas with the Rev. Michael Fielding of Fort Worth, Texas, officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Ruby was born in Riesel, Texas on October 10, 1918, to George and Nora White. She spent her childhood in Moody and graduated from Moody High School where she met her life-long companion and husband of over 70 years, Casey Eugene Garner. On January 10, 1937, she and Casey Garner, together with their best friends, Doris and Paul Alexander, were married in a double wedding ceremony, and the four of them celebrated 65 wedding anniversaries together. Ruby and Casey lived most of their lives in Waco and after retirement, moved to Fort Worth, Houston and Austin to be near their children and grandchildren. As a young wife and mother, Ruby worked as an administrative assistant at the Waco Federal Probation Office. Ruby played the piano beautifully and taught piano in Waco for over 30 years. Ruby, together with her husband, Casey, were avid sports fans and loved the Baylor Bears, following the Bears sports teams all over the country from 1950 until 2000. Ruby loved her sister, Norma, dearly and enjoyed their many adventurous travels. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and great-grandmother, who enjoyed all of the activities of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Ruby's sunny outlook on life and beautiful smile were contagious to all around her. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Casey Garner, and her mother and father, Nora and George White. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Leon Teague of Fort Worth; her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy Garner of Lakeway and her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Pat Patterson of The Woodlands. She is also survived by her grandsons, Matthew Chaney and his wife, Becky of Lakeway, Mark Chaney and his wife, Kara of Fort Worth, Michael Chaney and his fianc, Sarah Kelly of Fort Worth, Max Garner of Lakeway; her great-grandchildren, Madison and Jackson Chaney of Lakeway; her nieces, Marilyn Garner Doherty and husband Chuck, LeeAnn Patterson Brooks and her husband, John; her nephew, Michael Patterson and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Pallbearers are Matthew Chaney, Mark Chaney, Michael Chaney, Max Garner, Leon Teague, John Brooks and Michael Patterson. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Vista Oaks in Lakeway for their kind and loving care of Ruby for the past several months.
