Ruby P. Beene November 6, 1910 - January 31, 2010 Ruby P. Beene Mrs. Hugh Beene of Waco passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 at St. Catherine's Center. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Brad Herridge officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Ruby was born November 6, 1910 in Brooken, Texas to William and Edna Province. She grew up and attended school at Abbott. She and Hugh Beene were married on Aug. 10, 1931 in Marietta, OK. They moved to Waco in 1942 and she worked and retired from Baylor University Book Store 1954-1973. She was a member of the XYZ Club, Hillcrest Hospital Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Baylor Senior Singers. One of the passions of she and Hugh was working with Meals On Wheels. Her love of children led her to teach in the children?s departments in her churches and she dearly loved every minute of it. Ruby was a longtime member of Seventh and James Baptist Church and was a member of Bosqueville Baptist Church since 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hugh Beene and all her siblings. She is survived by her nieces, Shirley McCoy, Edna Adelle Hamilton, Phalia Scott, Billie Will, Doris Wells, and Carol Krause; nephews, Jim Perkins, James Rydel, Rick Hill, David Province, Mike Province, Bobby Province, Leland Smith, Ralph Cleveland, Austin Cleveland, Regan Beene, Richard Austin Beene, David Beene, Richard Alan Beene; two sisters-in-law, Vera Mae Smith and LaVerne Beene; many great nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Karen Normand. Pallbearers are Dan Rowell, Bill Van Cleave, Dutch Schroeder, Danny Bostick, Bryan McCoy, Rox Eskew and Charles McCoy. Honorary pallbearers are the Ladies III Sunday School Class at Bosqueville Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine and Providence Hospice; and a special thanks to Felicia, JoAnne and Jessie of St. Catherine and Margie, Lisa and Candy of Providence Hospice.
