Ruby Schrader Porter

PORTER, RUBY SCHRADER Ruby Schrader Porter, age 78, of Woodway died Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 3:30pm Saturday, December 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Randy Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Friday, December 12 at the funeral home. Mrs. Porter was born in Golinda December 17, 1924 to Gus and Lizzie Schrader. She was a 1942 graduate of Chilton High School. She married Glenn Porter January 18, 1946. She was an employee of General Tire and retired in 1987. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church and was an active Sunday school teacher and served on several committees at the church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who loved and knew her. She was very interested in genealogy and traveled extensively gathering information about her family. She loved gardening, her family and her pets. During her high school years, she enjoyed playing softball, tennis and all girls sporting activities. Survivors include husband, Glenn Porter of Woodway; son, Richard Porter and wife, Karen of Woodway; grandchildren, Christopher and Katie Porter; sister, Opal Hamilton and husband, Bill of Houston; brother, Wesley Schrader and wife, Emma of Chilton; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
