Ruth Adele Sevier

January 11, 1930 — October 9, 2016

Ruth Adele Sevier, 86, of Leesburg passed away peacefully on October 9, 2016, in Eustis, Florida. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Laura Walden, and her third husband, Harvey Sevier. A native Texan and one of four beloved sisters, Bonnie, Doris and Mat, she lived for many years in northern California where she worked in banking and credit management, and then moved to Central Florida in 2006. Ruth was proud to be an active member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority for over 60 years and was a Baptist by faith. Loyal, kind and compassionate, she devoted most of her time to helping others. With her husband Harvey, she delighted in dancing and entertaining the elderly at local nursing homes, true to her generous, altruistic spirit. A passionate piano player, she intuitively played by ear and was always happy to sit at any keyboard at a moment’s notice. Even after suffering a major stroke in February 2016, she was still able to play with one hand and her favorite melodies were patriotic tunes. Ocean cruising and going to the beach were two of her favorite pastimes, and she spent many happy days on the silver sands of Sarasota, enjoying the Gulf breeze and the fresh local seafood. Following her wishes, her final resting place will be beside her first husband, William Walden, in Waco, Texas, where her memory will be celebrated by her close family and her beautiful soul will finally be at peace. In lieu of flowers, a memorial page has been set up for donations to honor Ruth Sevier with the American Heart Association.
