DEWITT, RUTH GAYLE Ruth Gayle Dewitt, age 83, of Waco passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 10am Friday, May 16 at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Howard Martin officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, May 15 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. DeWitt was born March 17, 1920, in Austin to Goldie and Arthur Jesse Van Arman, Sr. She met her loving husband, Leo M. DeWitt, while she was employed at the Guiverson Diesel Engine Co. in Dallas. They married April 24, 1943 in Dallas. Mrs. DeWitt was a career woman who served her community well. She worked with her twin brother, A. J. Van Arman, Jr. at Van Outdoor Advertising for 28 years. She served as president of the American Business Women’s Association, was a volunteer at Providence Hospital, and was a proud member of the Daughters of the Nile. Ruth was a long time member of Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend. We will remember her generosity, exuberance for life, her warmth, and sense of humor. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Leo DeWitt, her brother, A.J. Van Arman, Jr. and wife, Dorothy; sisters-in-law, Rosalind Kaysen and Gwendolyn Jarrell and many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to all who made Aunt Ruth’s last days peaceful. The family requests that memorials be made to Cogdell United Methodist Church Sanctuary Fund or to Providence Hospital Hospice Care.
